Welcome to the Independent Schools Victoria website

The Association of Independent Schools of Victoria is now Independent Schools Victoria. Our new name and logo reflect the dual nature of our organisation.

Independent Schools Victoria is a peak body dedicated to developing and supporting independent education, which is critically important to Australia.

Independent Schools Victoria:

• advocates excellence in education
• develops policy options for education
• protects the right of parents to choose where and how their children are educated
• works to improve funding for the independent sector
• conducts research to identify and implement best practice in education.

As a member service organisation, we assist 221 independent schools to achieve quality educational outcomes for 127,000 students. Our seminars help staff with their professional development.

Information on governance, compliance and accountability ensures that our schools meet government regulations and funding requirements. Our advice helps members comply with industrial relations legislation.

• independent schools’ individual and collective contribution to Australian society.

Our schools offer quality educational outcomes, providing students with a positive experience that resonates for a lifetime.

Our new logo reflects our view that effective, clear communication is essential for common understanding. The logo evolved from the dialogue symbols, or speech bubbles representing discussion between teachers and students, conversations between parents and children, our communications with members and our negotiations with governments.

As an organisation of strength and integrity, we speak with a confident voice for independent education.
