Government programs

Independent Schools Victoria administers government funding and manages Specific Purpose programs for Victoria’s 210 independent schools.

In January 2009, Independent Schools Victoria signed an agreement with the Australian Government for the 2009-2012 funding quadrennium – to administer Targeted Programs Funding for all Victorian independent schools.

The Australian Government provided $15.8 million in 2004 for Specific Purpose programs and the Victorian Government contributed $1.2 million. Independent Schools Victoria administered the funds taking into account:

  • Commonwealth programs for Schools Quadrennial Administrative Guidelines 2009 to 2012
  • Program aims set by the Australian Government
  • Victorian Government initiatives
  • Policy directions set by the Ministerial Council on Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs
  • The National Goals for Schooling.
